چکیده

Concrete is a material whose properties depend on its initial formulation, conditions of use, and change over time depending environment the different types degradation that it likely to undergo. Knowledge monitoring various mechanical are therefore essential for maintenance civil engineering works. All concrete assessment methods, whether destructive or non-destructive, can then provide valuable diagnosis operators structure. Depending their precision, they be used easily detect an alteration in characteristics materials, locate damaged area, extent damage, even precisely quantify evolution this damage predict future changes. This paper presents Ultrasonic Pulse Velocity technique (UPV) which by many companies assess compressive strength situ allows measuring speed attenuation elastic waves. The influence reinforcements ultrasonic pulse velocity has been studied case reinforcement perpendicular parallel direction propagation. several factors affecting UPV, related otherwise, was mentioned. Indeed, porosity, water/Cement ratio, micro-cracks, state saturation temperature parameters strongly values UPV.

Detection of Concrete Damage Using Ultrasonic Pulse Velocity Method

This paper investigates the efficiency of Ultrasonic Pulse Velocity (UPV) method in detecting cracks and flaws inside the concrete. A series of concrete beams and slab specimens were cast and damaged to simulate the different mechanisms possible in a reinforced concrete deck due to mechanical loading. Two types of simulated cracks, namely, cracks perpendicular and cracks parallel to axis of bea...

Pulse Compression Ultrasonic Non Destructive Evaluation of Thick Polymer Samples

The use of ultrasonic signals at sub-MHz frequencies for Non Destructive Evaluation of thick polymer samples is described. It will be shown that the combination of low-frequency coded signals such as chirps, together with appropriate signal processing methods such as pulse compression, can provide a powerful tool for ultrasonic NDE. To achieve this goal, it is essential that the measurement sys...

Non-Linear Non-Destructive Evaluation of Concrete

This paper explains non-linear non-destructive evaluation of concrete aimed at examining the occurrence of non-linearity under non-linear wave propagation through the concrete. Standard cubic concrete sections in damaged and undamaged conditions were investigated. The specimen was first damaged under compression testing and then subjected to non-linear ultrasonic evaluation in two directions i....

Estimation of mechanical and durability properties of self-compacting concrete with fibers using ultrasonic pulse velocity

In this research, the performance of ultrasonic pulse velocity (UPV) in concrete is examined as a nondestructive experiment in order to estimate mechanical (compressive and tensile strength) and durability (water absorption) properties of fiber-reinforced self-compacted concrete For this purpose 11 mixture designs containing 3 types of fibers (steel: 0.1, 0.2, 0.3 and 0.4 percent by volume, Pol...
